Introduction
Bienvenidos al curso de literatura latinoamericana. El curso se imparte a distancia, salvo por la clase semanal (asistencia obligatoria) por Zoom. Leeremos una variedad de obras literarias y las analizaremos dentro en su contexto histórico y cultural. La clase se complementará con pelÃculas, videos, y textos en lÃnea. El curso se imparte totalmente en castellano. Nivel (mÃnimo intermedio avanzado B2)
Course Description
Surveys literature and culture of Latin America from 1492 to the present, including literary concepts and analysis of the four genres, narrative, essay, poetry, and drama within literary movements in Latin America. Taught entirely in Spanish. CSU/UC 3 Credits. Level (B2 or higher).
Se prestará atención a los géneros literarios predominantes en cada movimiento: ensayo, poesÃa, drama y narrativa. De la misma forma se estudiarán las constantes, motivos, temas y modelos culturales fundamentales en la construcción de una identidad nacional y continental.
What to Expect in this Course
Reading literary works from the 15th century to the present, short-stories, poetry, plays, and literary criticism in Spanish. Assignments include analytical short-essays, essays, and oral presentation.
Types of Assessments
Weekly quizzes and exams, written and oral discussions and assignments, and a comprehensive final exam.

Computer with internet access. Make sure your microphone is working properly. Voice recording activities are an essential part of this course. Observation: Tablets, apps, and other mobile devices can be used to view or read content, and to complete some assignments, however there is required work that can only be performed on a computer.
