Introduction
Hello! My name is Holly Hitt-Zuniga and I’ll be your instructor for the ARCHT-100 / ID-100 Careers in Architecture, Interior Design, and Related Fields course. I am a Certified Interior Designer with a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Design and am a LEED Accredited Professional with a Building Design & Construction specialty (LEED BD&C).
Course Description
In this course you will learn the basic principles, procedures, and office systems necessary to professionally organize and carry through a creative interior design project from the original client contract to final billing and collecting.
You will create a business plan for a start-up interior design firm as well as learn how to design a project schedule.
What to Expect in this Course
Many students may register of online classes believing that they will be easier or less time than traditional in-person classes. While you do not have to travel to to campus for specific class times, the responsibility of managing the time for the online classes lies entirely on your shoulders. It up to you as the student to be disciplined about spending the required time to “attend“ class and complete the assignments. Doing so you will be rewarded with the knowledge to comfortably manage the professional Interior Design landscape.

Often the pressure on our students is very strong, involving academic commitments, relationships, outside jobs and family pressure to name a few. The staff and faculty of College of the Canyons are here to see you succeed academically and care about your emotional and physical health. You can learn more about the broad range of confidential student services, including counseling and mental health services available on campus by visiting the Student Health & Wellness Center in the Student Services Building (across from the bookstore). At the Canyon Country Campus the Health Center will be in the new Student Services Building.
Also, the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline number is now 988. All students at COC are encouraged to enter that phone number in their cells. You can call it when you, or someone you know, is having thoughts of suicide or is in severe distress.

Veterans Resource Center
The College of the Canyons Veterans Resource Center is a department within the Student Services Division at the college, created to help veterans and veteran dependents with applying to College of the Canyons, enrolling in classes, and requesting VA Education or Vocational Benefits.
